A Story Rooted in Resilience and Service
Mony is a proud Cambodian American he grew up in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge era. Mony and his family fled the violence and journeyed throught the land mines from Cambodia to Thailand, ultimately surviving refugee camps in Thailand and the Philippines before before settling in Stockton, CA. These early experiences instilled in him a profound appreciation for stability, opportunity, and the meaning of having a place to call home.
In the United States, Mony learned the value of hard work and service at a young age. He served in law enforcement for 17 years, working his way from police cadet to reserve officer and later serving with the Livermore Police Department as a patrol officer, D.A.R.E. instructor, Special Operations Unit officer, and member of the S.W.A.T. team. During this time, he also raised two sons as a single father and became the first person in his family to earn a college degree from Saint Mary’s College.
